Mahwah has long been known as the Meeting Place and the Crossroads. Route 17, Route 287, Route 202 and the New York State Thruway all intersect through Mahwah or right outside our borders. Millions of cars and trucks have used and continue to use the roads of Mahwah. This has resulted in countless accidents and incidents that the Mahwah FD has responded to. Not many were as visually spectacular than this 2007 incident with a tractor trailer crossing from the NYS Thruway towards Route 287/17. The MFD worked with our mutual aid partners in Rockland to contain the situation and reopen this crucial roadway ASAP.
